Recently I did a shoot for a new yoga studio in East Liberty called Om Lounge. This was a different type of shoot for me because I've never photographed an actual yoga class in session before. Trying to be discreet and still get great candid photos was challenging at times but overall I'm really pleased with how everything turned out. This studio space is so welcoming and has positive vibes as soon as you enter the front door. If you're interested in yoga even the slightest bit, I highly recommend you check out the Om Lounge. I know most of the instructors here personally and I can say they are among the best in the Burgh. For more information you can contact Suzanne. Here are some of my favorites from the session.
I've been lucky enough to photograph some really cool events recently during the slow season for weddings. Pewabic pottery is a ceramic studio based in Detroit. Last week, a team of their artists brought a mobile studio to Carnegie for the NCECA Exhibition at Standard Ceramics. They performed live Raku demonstrations which was so cool to watch as well as photograph.
Western-style raku usually involves removing pottery from the kiln while at bright red heat and placing it into containers with combustible materials. Once the materials ignite, the containers are closed. This produces an intense reduction atmosphere which effects the colors in glazes and clay bodies. The pottery is then placed into a bucket for cooling and ready to take home. Thanks to the Pewabic team for having me, it was a great experience!
On St. Patrick's Day I photographed the Juicy Brews event at The Ace Hotel in East Liberty hosted by Hop Culture . Both the morning and afternoon tasting sessions were sold out! This event was packed with great merch, live music and awesome beers from all over the country. Thanks to Kenny & Travis for having me! If you're a craft beer fan, you definitely need to check out their site; www.hopculture.com and follow them on Instagram @hopculturemag. Here's a few of my favorite photos from the event.
