It was raining buckets as I drove to the South Side to photograph John's proposal to Lauren. They were celebrating their 5th year anniversary at The Claddagh where they had their first date. I anxiously watched the sky in hopes that the rain would stop by the time they finished dinner. John wanted to go through with it no matter what so I was prepared to shoot in the rain if I had to. Like magic, the skies cleared and the sun came back out just in time! John proposed on the riverwalk trail by South Side Works and we continued to take a few more photos on The Hot Metal Bridge afterward. I'm so happy the weather cooperated and we were able to have an awesome little shoot. Oh yeah, she said yes!!
Destination weddings and engagement sessions are always so much fun. Shooting in Pittsburgh is awesome but you're limited with only so many locations, so I was definitely excited to get back to D.C. and see what it had in store for us. We met Kim and Alex at The Carnegie Institution for Science, where their wedding will be held next year. It was great to get a tour of this beautiful building and have an idea of what we'll be working with. We took photos at a variety of places, including some of the more well known monuments, iconic buildings as well as some off the beaten path spots in historic Georgetown. We even got to check out Montrose Park where Alex proposed! Thank you Kim and Alex for giving us a glimpse of your world and for being so generous while we were in town. I can't wait to work with you again!
